12 Days of Giveaways: HellaFresh Designs
Happy December 2nd! We are very excited that the holidays are right around the corner and we are EXTRA excited for the 12 Days of Giveaways! How did you get the idea to start HellaFresh Designs?
I started HFD last year, when I was bored by the selection of greeting cards offered instore. I wanted to give something that reflected who I was, and unfortunately, Hallmark just wasn’t cutting it for me. So with the encouragement of family and friends, and my long-time desire to have my own business, I took the initiative and decided to make my own. I was on mat leave at the time, so whenever I wasn’t changing diapers or doing tummy time, I was drawing, designing and creating my brand!
I now get to share my unique and quirky sense of humor with the world, and it’s amazing to see how many other like-minded people are out there! In less than two years on Etsy, I’m proud to say that my sales have grown exponentially and continue to do so, especially thanks to huge features such as this one, a great source for holiday card ideas. HFD now takes up all of my spare time, including some ‘sick days’, just to keep up with demand and to package wholesale orders destined for boutiques all across North America!
Your cards are hilarious – how do you come up with your ideas for new cards?
Thank you so much! I have to give credit to my crazy entourage for being my main source of inspiration. Some of my best-sellers, like this one and this one, were born from real-life situations, or lines thrown out mid-conversation with a friend or co-worker. Somehow, our talks always end up inappropriate and depraved in nature, which are sure fire material for new cards. Looking through my shop, you’ll also see influences from my favourite music, movies and TV shows.
Favourite holiday song?
This is a tough one… I love Christmas carols! I think I’ll have to go with Petit Papa Noël. It was always my favourite growing up, and it brings me back to my childhood every time I hear it. A close second is O Holy Night, it gives me goosebumps!
Favourite thing about celebrating the holidays in Sudbury?
Hands down, my favourite thing about the holidays is my family’s Réveillon de Noël. It’s a French tradition where family gathers on Christmas Eve, and basically just eats. All. Night. Long. My mom puts out the most amazing spread with all of her best cooking & baking. I look forward to this every year… there’s nothing better than good food, family, laughter and drinks!
Now that I have a little one, we are starting our own family traditions, which I love. The Santa Claus parade, Festival of Lights and baking sugar cookies are a must every year!
