5 events to check out in Sudbury this weekend

Do you have plans this weekend? Now you do! Cheer on the Sudbury Wolves at their home opener, pick up some festive goodies at the Freskiw Farms fall fair or get your groove on at the Studio 96 Silent Disco – there is always lots happening in our favourite city.

Sudbury Wolves vs. Oshawa Generals – Friday, September 28 @ Sudbury Community Arena (7:05pm)

Cheer on our Sudbury Wolves at Friday’s home opener! The game is sponsored by DESJARDINS CARD SERVICES and you can join the Wolves and Desjardins prior to the game out front of the arena for Face Painting and a Shoot-out contest. The Bandoleers will be preforming for the first time ever on the brand-new Queen’s Entertainment Stage Powered by M.I.C. Eatery beginning at 6:05pm. Desjardins will also be on-hand with prizes, contests and giveaways.

MS Fall Fair – Saturday, September 29-Sunday, September 30 @ The Freskiw Farms (10am / $5)

There will be over 90 vendors selling some great local products. There will also be food, live music, arts & crafts as well as fresh apples and produce from Freskiw Farms.

Classical Vienna – Saturday, September 29 @ Fraser Auditorium (7:30pm / $44)

The Sudbury Symphony Orchestra is in their 43rd season and they are kicking it off with two of Vienna’s most celebrated composers of the Classical Era, Mozart and Haydn.

Studio 96 Silent Disco – Saturday, September 29 @ Durham Social (9pm / $35)

Join CKLU 96.7 for a groovy night of disco, dancing, and giveaways at Sudbury’s first Silent Disco Party! Boogie the night away with two live DJs, in support of your campus and community radio station, CKLU 96.7 as they transform The Durham Social into the world-famous discotheque, Studio 54 for CKLU’s Studio 96 Silent Disco Fundraiser!

Dear Rouge – Sunday, September 30 @ The Townehouse Tavern (8pm / $20)

Drew and Danielle McTaggart realized their debut EP in 2012 and have been on an upward trajectory ever since. Partners in life and art, Drew and Danielle quit their day jobs to focus on music full-time and have channeled their energies into honing their sinewy, hook-driven indie rock. They are currently travelling across Canada for their Phases tour and you can catch them in Sudbury this weekend.
