OPEN STUDIO HAS YOUR ULTIMATE MIXEDTYPE

Cambrian College’s Open Studio is at it again with a new exhibition of student made artwork in partnership with Makers North, this time with a very local flavour! Their latest show entitled Mixedtype is described as an audio and visual collaborative experiment melding the worlds of lyricism and design. In a unique challenge Cambrian College second year students paired with local musicians to turn their lyrics into hand rendered typographic posters! PARTY CANNON IS READY TO LIGHT A FUSE!

The arts community is alive and well here in Sudbury and here to add to our ever changing landscape is Party Cannon, a new collaboration of music and art bringing all ages and licensed shows to Sudbury stages! Comprised of Shawn Kosmlery and Clayton Drake the duo insists there’s no age limit for good music. “There is no reason why adults and teens can’t enjoy the same concert”, says Drake who has been a major advocate for the cause over the years. THE MCEWAN SCHOOL OF ARCHITECTURE OPENS ITS DOORS FOR NUIT BLANCHE

Over the past few years Sudbury has seen a revitalization in the downtown core. New businesses have set up shop, older businesses have seen more excitement and popularity. A key role in this new age of Downtown Sudbury is the newly completed McEwen School of Architecture – the big glass housing structure attached to the old marketplace has become a symbol of change and prosperity in Sudbury. Mayor’s Celebration of the Arts: Johanna Westby

The Annual Mayor’s Celebration of the Arts Awards occurred last month, and we had the chance to learn more about local artist Johanna Westby, winner of the Award for Outstanding Emerging Artist.
