Scott Florence is the Managing Director for ReThink Green and these days, like many working professionals with young kids (pictured above with his son Raphaël), he does quite a bit of technical reading for work but doesn’t have as much time to read for fun as he used to. He still typically has at least one fiction and non-fiction on the go and the bulk of his reading keeps him up to speed on the nuances of current issues. I sat down with Scott to talk about a few books that he’s read that have stayed with him over......

Jeff MacIntyre is the Marketing Director at Fuel Multimedia and is currently Chair of the Downtown Sudbury Board of Directors. As a reader, Jeff is much more interested in non-fiction books than fiction and has a list of many that have influenced his life. He reads in spurts and while he might go a year not reading any books, he might then read four all in one month. It really boils down to how busy life gets and how sometimes he needs to challenge himself and his ideas and consider other viewpoints – which is something he is able......

Jennifer McGillivray is the Executive Director of the Sudbury Symphony Orchestra and she sat down with me at the South End Library to talk about her lifelong love affair with books. As someone who has read Charlie and the Chocolate Factory by Roald Dahl some 300 odd times but who doesn’t feel compelled to finish a book she doesn’t like, Jenn has read quite a few tales in her time. We were happy she decided to share a few favourites from her book list with us. The Greater Sudbury Public Library has recently launched another season of programs and......

Last year Glenn Thibeault made a New Year’s Resolution that focused around books. His resolution was to read at least one book per month all year. While he may not have found the time get to a book every month this past year, his reasons for creating this goal for himself have to do with the large impact books have had on his life. Glenn Thibeault is currently the MPP for the Sudbury area. While he still enjoys the feeling of a good old fashioned in his hands, he has also started using the public library’s digital services like......

Book Talk is a new monthly discussion on books with local Sudburians brought to you by Greater Sudbury Public Library. This on-going series will highlight conversations about the books that changed the lives of readers right here in Our Crater. This choice for this month (as we are speaking to current Poet Laureate Kim Fahner) relates to the fact that the Greater Sudbury Public Library is currently looking for the next Poet Laureate to serve a two-year term in Greater Sudbury. In case you didn’t know, a Poet Laureate serves as an active advocate for poetry, literacy, and literature......
