CRATER CONVERSATIONS EP39: KELLY PERRAS

CRATER CONVERSATIONS EP39: KELLY PERRAS

Welcome to another edition of Crater Conversations, a once-weekly show live on CKLU. So, what exactly is the show all about? Join your host, Crater co-founder Jess, each week as we sit down with a local guest. We’ll talk about their projects, their passions, and the things they love about our little rock town! We’ll be sitting down with performers, entrepreneurs, community leaders – anyone with a story. Personal anecdotes, first inspirations, childhood follies, who knows where this will take us but we can’t wait to find out!

Kelly Perras has music in her blood! Her family has been a driving force in the musical community in Sudbury since the beginning. As one of the first families settled in our community her great-great (maybe more?) grandmother was the first organist of Grace United Church and the first silent theatre here in Sudbury. The proud tradition of musicianship has traveled all the way down the family tree to today. Kelly is an accomplished musician and vocalist in just about any style. She was classically trained which gives her the foundation to be a vocal chameleon. At STC she works with their youth academy developing young performers. She loves incorporating different styles of music from pop, punk, new wave, and on to help her students find their voice. Kelly also takes the stage herself with Voice Thief, and most recently Jellycap you can catch them performing all over downtown with their butter funk grooves! Over the 2018/2019 season at STC, Kelly had the pleasure to host the second installment of her Voices of the Rock series. This years season featured intimate performances and talkback sessions with John Newlands, Kevin Closs, and Patrick Rheal Therrien. This is one from the vault but too good not to be heard. We hope you’ll make your way to STC to check out the third edition of Voices of the Rock over the 2019/20 season. Tune in to the episode here, and jam out to our Spotify playlist here.
