Science Cafe – Diversity in Research: Are we there yet?
February 28, 2017 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm
Diverse research groups have been shown to produce higher-impact research, and research with sample groups that reflect the diversity of the population is more robust. Despite this knowledge, the field of scientific research can sometimes feel like an inhospitable place to many people who don’t see themselves reflected in the scientific workforce. Are we where we want to be in attracting and supporting a diverse scientific workforce? How can we ensure that underrepresented voices are heard? And what’s the impact on individuals and the field of scientific research itself when we fail?
