Tickets 10 $ Advance (Purchase at Cosmic Dave's Vinyl Emporium) 12 $ at the door. Sam Tudor is songwriter from British Columbia. His recent album 'Quotidian Dream' has been making waves across Canada, lauded for its "deftness, experimentation and creativity" (Beatroute Magazine).Named by the Georgia Straight as one of Vancouver's "top 10 up and coming acts to watch", Tudor is a poignant songwriter with a unique and personal live show. He will be performing with Ted Crosby on woodwinds and Ben Dwyer on upright bass. Ox began in the smokey confines of East-side Vancouver’s Profile Studios, as songwriter Mark Browning’s project to remake Woody Guthrie’s ‘Dust Bowl Ballads’. What started as a musical history excercise and sonic experiment quickly transformed into an intimate expression of rambling folk soundscape mixed with indie rock. Browning’s 2003 debut, ‘Dust Bowl Revival’ bridged the burgeoning roots alt-country scene into indie cult status coming out of nowhere to eventually reach #1 on Canada’s national college radio chart- the first time an independent record has achieved such an honour.

Walrus, Tallies, Pity Trip, Millenial Bugg

October 26, 2018 @ 10:00 pm - 11:30 pm
Townehouse Tavern, 206 Elgin Street
Sudbury, Canada
+ Google Map
$10

Friday, October 26th -Walrus, Tallies, Pity Trip, Millenial Bugg - $10.00 at the door. 10:00pm. Co-presented by River & Sky. Walrus https://walrustheband.bandcamp.com/ “The Halifax based band's debut LP, Family Hangover, is a fuzzed- out electric blanket of soul with unrepentant strands of authentic heaviosity. Extensive studio experimentation can be heard throughout the sonically unique record, from varispeed warble to Spacemen-3 style saucer-drone attacks. Live, their low-key manner belies a depth and dedication to craft. This band could be thrown on a bill between Love and Sabbath and not embarrass the present. "The band somehow mix gentle, Brian Wilson vocal melodies and orchestrations with out-of-the-blue punk thrash parts that keep listeners guessing. The high, winsome vocals and chiming 12-string Rickenbacker certainly conjured late '60s cloudy folk-pop, but the rest of the band infused the songs with sharp edges. Some of it recalled the Sadies, and the musicians in Walrus are certainly in the same league. Back when My Morning Jacket were still kinda metal-y, they made music like Walrus is making now. It's all wild left turns that seem ill-advised but, as they steamroll past, they're a glorious sight to behold." -Vish Khanna (Exclaim) Tallies https://tallies.bandcamp.com/ The late 80’s and early 90’s were a huge influence for many new artists. But when they cite sounds from great artists like Johnny Marr, Cocteau Twins, The Durutti Column and The Beach Boys, you know they are on the right track to something great. Combining up-beat drum beats, melodic bass riffs, jingly guitar leads, and fluttery lighter-than-air vocals, the band give out soft, yet bouncy ray of sunshine not unlike The Sundays’ debut album ‘Reading, Writing, and Arithmetic’ captured. Tallies bridge that long lost sound with yet a new and youthful take on something all their own. Coming out of Toronto, Canada this Indie...
