Teens – Intro to Browser Extensions
Browser extensions are small software programs that modify and enhance our experience on the web. They range from playful to practical, with the goal of doing one thing, well. Extensions can help customize our browsing experience or increase productivity by reducing repetitive tasks. In this workshop, we will use code as a tool for empowerment, to develop agency and harness change by building our own extension for Google Chrome! This workshop is designed to be a hands-on experience, where learners will: - learn basic programming techniques and concepts that are translatable to other programming languages - review the basic building blocks of how HTML, CSS, and JavaScript work together to create richer online experiences - load and update extensions using Chrome’s developer mode modify and replace elements using JavaScript (more kittens on the web!) Prerequisites: None! This workshop is designed for beginners.

Snow Day
The City of Greater Sudbury invites residents to a free outdoor family celebration on Snow Day, Saturday, February 2, 2019, from 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. near the Grace Hartman Amphitheatre in Bell Park. Activities include sliding, climbing, snow art, snowshoeing, skating, snowboarding and much more. A warm-up area, equipped with change tables and nursing stations, will be available for families with babies and young children. Kina Gbezhgomi Child & Family Services will offer a campfire for warmth, and provide a comfortable place for storytelling and bannock making. Transportation to Bell Park will be free of charge aboard Greater Sudbury Transit when passengers inform the bus operator they are attending Snow Day. Free helmets and equipment for activities will be available for loan at the Bell Park entrance. Meals and snacks may be purchased from food vendors. Donation Boxes available. There are very few parties each year that are this fun. Celebrate the life of the prolific singer and Rasta warrior, Robert Nesta Marley. Bob helped to show the world the spirit of Reggae music and it’s power to call for peace and unity. His death at 36 years old was far too young but we have so much of him to remember from the early Ska years and Studio One recordings with the original Wailers, Peter and Bunny, through the years of worldwide tours and international acclaim. Come celebrate the great songs of Bob Marley at our annual tribute hosted skilfully by the House of David Gang Reggae Band. House of David Gang is Canada's busiest touring reggae band. Rooted in the timeless tradition of Jamaican roots reggae from the 70s and early 80s as embodied by the immortal Bob Marley, Peter Tosh, and Bunny Wailer; House of David Gang adds a potent mix of jazz, funk and afrobeat to create a true global reggae orchestra.
