Dinner & Show With the Carlos Bernardo Trio
The Motley Kitchen's Dinner & Show series kicks off its fifth season on Friday, September 20 with Paris-based, Brazilian guitarist, multi-instrumentalist and composer, Carlos Bernardo, performing in a trio featuring Sudbury's own Jack Broumpton on drums and North Bay's Ryan Rogers on bass. Carlos is a jazz/world fusion artist whose career is living proof that music is a universal language. In Sudbury, he has developed an enthusiastic following going back to 2008 for his collaborations with singer-songwriter Patricia Cano, having co-written and arranged both of her albums,This is the New World (2009) and Madre -Amiga-Hermana (2017). Dinner and entertainment combined is $60.00 including HST. Show-only seats are $25.00 each. Doors open at 6:00 p.m. with the buffet dinner served at 6:30 p.m. and the show approximately from 7:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Reserve now to assure good seats and dinner by calling The Motley Kitchen at 705-222-6685. Or drop by during one of their brunches Saturday and Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Born in Cardiff, Wales, from Brazilian parents, Bernardo spent his childhood in Rio de Janeiro. He divides his time among music, theatre and teaching. In France, Carlos has been working for five years with Toda Via Teatro Company with the Argentinian director, Paula Giusti composing and performing the music for “The Inspector General”(Nicolai Gogol) and currently performs the music composed for the play “Le pain nu” by Mohamed Choukri. Before that, in the early 2000’s, Bernardo worked for many years with Théâtre du Soleil's composer Jean-Jacques Lemêtre. He also was the music director of the Brazilian company Amok Teatro in Rio de Janeiro. Live Music with Duncan Cameron
Casual listeners as well as ardent music fans enjoy Duncan Cameron’s skillful performance of rock and country hits as well as his selections of traditional Celtic songs and fiddle tunes. Traditional Irish, English and French-Canadian groups have contributed much of Duncan's repertoire, but classical, country, and funk have also added to his unique approach. These influences as well as his impressive array of instruments are sometimes combined and infused within a song. His use of a looper and other technology to enhance his sound makes his solo shows unexpectedly rich in timbre and range.
