Aalaapi | ᐋᓛᐱ
Soul-baring authenticity reaches out to us from a distant Arctic land. Five women from Nunavik tell their stories. Their thoughts are those of young people longing for self-realization, looking to the future, engaging with their native North and the siren of the South. Their voices embrace three languages in an innovative theatrical form that blends community radio, documentary theatre and intimate conversation. You will discover a people, sense true presence and experience aalaapi. The word means “to be silent so beauty can be heard.” A Production From: Collectif Aalaapi in collaboration with Magnéto

Derek Seguin Live & Uncensored presented by Sudbury Performance Group
8:30PM SHOW SOLD OUT - 2ND LATE SHOW ADDED Tickets for late show available at https://www.eventbrite.ca/e/derek-seguin-live-uncensored-presented-by-sudbury-performance-group-tickets-74706183205 Tickets $30 Doors Open 6:30pm Show 8:30pm Special Menu Items available for purchase prior to the show. DEREK SEGUIN Montreal-based Derek Seguin is one of the most sought after stand up comedians on the international circuit. He has performed at the prestigious invitation-only Just For Laughs festival an impressive six times. Last year he filmed a gala set for HBO at the festival where he received a standing-ovation at the city’s 3,500 seat Place des Arts. This led to an invitation to perform at this year’s Nasty Show. GQ Magazine’s Comedy Editor reported that: “Montreal-comic Derek Seguin stole one of the most star-studded gala shows last year from host Whitney Cummings. This year he appeared in The Nasty Show (in which the stand-ups perform their most shocking and filthy material) and proceeded to steal that too. A true star and Montreal’s pride and joy.” The Montreal Gazette enthused that: “Montreal-area comedian Derek Seguin earned a standing ovation for his set during the ninth Just for Laughs gala at the Salle Wilfrid-Pelletier in Place des Arts in Montreal Sunday, July 28, 2013. Derek Seguin had me gasping for air, I was laughing so hard at the detailing of his second date with his Newfoundland girlfriend. If you require some insight into the particularities of fellatio, well you just watch for this special. What made it great, however, was not the boldness of his material but that he described it all in such childlike wonder. Brilliant.” Derek’s other televised appearances include performances at the CBC Winnipeg and Halifax festivals, The Newfoundland Comedy Festival, the Grand Rire du Quebec’s Comedie Club series as well as the Just for Laughs Comedy Special, “Oh Canada!”. He has also appeared...
