Heart of Ruth Mission is hosting our 5th Annual Spaghetti Dinner Fundraiser on January 13th, 2018 in Sudbury! This year will be bigger and better than ever! Mark your calendars friends :) All proceeds will directly support our Transition House project for the kids living at Rainbow House Children's Home. According to the Kenyan Government, when an individual turns 18 they must leave the orphanage. Most of our kids at 18 years of age are not yet completed Form (Kenyan equivalence of Highschool). Heart of Ruth Mission wants to create a safe and secure place for these vulnerable kids to transition into adulthood and eventually independant living. The young adults will live in this home until they are finished education and can stand on their own two feet. The night starts at 4pm at 430 Westmount Ave (in the Westmount Plaza) under the Christian Horizons sign. From there you are welcome to check out some handmade Kenyan items for sale, and talk to team members about our transition home project as well as our Child Sponorship Program. Live entertainment will begin at 5pm (artist to be announced). This dinner is a drop in setting, welcoming guests anytime between 4-8pm. As always, we will have a variety of sauces to choose from (meaty, vegetarian, and vegan!). Your $10 ticket includes a plate full of spaghetti, slice of garlic bread, caesar salad, a drink and an entrance to the door prize! On Wednesday February 7 from 5-8pm, we are pleased to welcome back the ladies from the Heart of Ruth Mission. This caring organization works diligently to take care of the children who call Rainbow House Children's Home their home. Heart of Ruth has a goal of building a transition home for the older children. According to Kenyan law, any child who lives in a Children’s Home must leave when they turn 18. At 18 years old children get their National ID and are no longer considered children. At this age most students are not completed high school and cannot stand on their own two feet. These children come from previous lives full of hurt, instability and destitution. At Rainbow House many of them experienced what love and a stable family meant for the very first time. Heart of Ruth Mission wants to continue that stability by building a safe haven for them to transition into adulthood. This home is being built on land next to Rainbow House and the young adults will live there until their secondary/ post-secondary education is complete and they are in a position where they can provide for themselves. Heart of Ruth Mission has a goal of stopping the cycle of poverty one child at a time, and building this house is essential to meeting this very important goal. S.C.C. Promotions presents the fourth annual ‘Blues for Debi’ Charity Concert taking place at 8:00 p.m. on Friday, April 6th 2018 at the Upper Hall of the Caruso Club. This year’s concert features The Duke of Blues himself, Duke Robillard and his band with Gary Disalle and the Affordables. Tickets are $40 in advance and $50 at the door. Tickets are available at the Caruso Club office, Motley Kitchen, Jett Landry Music, A&J Home Hardware and the Northern Cancer Foundation office. Doors open at 8:00 p.m. Tony Anselmo (Records on Wheels) and his family are well known in Sudbury for their love of music. If you have been involved with music in some way in our community, there is no doubt that a benefit concert is the perfect way to honour Tony’s late wife Debi Anselmo. Debi lost her battle with cancer on May 28, 2014. All proceeds support the Northern Cancer Foundation for patient care, research and equipment at the Northeast Cancer Centre.

ABC’s and Rice Gala Dinner - Charity Dinner and Silent Auction. Join us for dinner and a cause. The 2018 Gala will include a silent auction and keynote speaker Tammy Durand Pomroy, Founding Director of ABC’s and Rice. A selection of Cambodian crafts will be available while we learn about the difference education and food has made in the lives of our students and how ABC’s and Rice will continue to break the cycle of poverty into the future. Sudbury Rainbow Crime Stoppers in partnership with KICX 91.7 FM will be holding our 3rd annual Blue Jeans Country Ball fundraiser on April 21st at the Cambrian Student Centre. Come out and enjoy a country-style buffet with all the fixings, then dance the night away to great country music provided by Mike Trudell ! Hop on the Crosstown Chevrolet Mechanical Bull and test your riding skills! This event also has a unique silent auction. Our auction begins online and then transitions to the event.
