This 3-part series will showcase some of Sudbury's giant population of amazing female musicians and artists: come let us give you some insight as to what these rockin' gals are up to! Hosted by the incredibly talented rockin' lady herself, Kelly Perras, these three evenings are sure to get your toes tapping and your minds thinking about what Sudbury has to offer. Our first lady of the rock is the sweet Samantha Simone! Fresh off of a stellar debut performance in Sudbury Burlesque's Monster's Ball 3, Samantha is one multi-faceted artist you don't want to miss the chance to see. Friday Sept 8: Dan St. Marseille with the Borealis Jazz Quartet: With roots up here in the North, Dan St. Marseille's saxophone/clarinet recordings are heard internationally on jazz radio and have been the subject of articles in such publications as Downbeat, Jazztimes, Los Angeles Times, and Jazz Critic among others. Three of St. Marseille's CDs received four star ratings in the third edition of the All Music Guide To Jazz; The Experts Guide To The Best Jazz Recordings. In addition to local and national tours, Dan has performed in Canada and many jazz clubs and festivals including a headline performance at the prestigious Coleman Hawkins Festival in Topeka, Kansas. He will be accompanied by Sudbury’s own Borealis Quartet to kick off the Festival! Heather Bambrick: JUNO-Nominated Heather Bambrick, winner of the National Jazz Award for Vocalist of the Year and Broadcaster of the Year, is in demand as a performer, educator, and host. Get up close and personal and interact with some of these year's headlining acts in some of Sudbury's favorite landmark downtown venues as local dixieland band NCDS leads you on a musical parade through the street of Sudbury's downtown core. Catch the ever-evolving musical prowess of Sudbury's rising stars as school is in and the LU Jazz Combo kicks things off at Sudbury's favorite cheesery and cafe. Parade your way into some Afro-Cuban Rythms and some bluesy influences as Eric St-Laurent and his bandmates treat you to infectious grooves, plenty of interaction and a musical adventure. Finally, dixie stomp your way down the road to the Sudbury Theatre Centre Cabaret as Award-Winning Vocalist and Pianist Laila Biali takes to the baby grand piano to provide us with an elegant fusion of pop and jazz vocals. This veritable musical buffet will feel like an appetizer and you can bet you'll be joining us for the evening concerts at the Grace Hartman Amphitheatre.

Guided Mural Tour / Tournée des murales

Join Up Here's mural coordinators, Nico Glaude and Alexandra Berens-Firth, on a walking guided tour of the murals downtown. Up Here festival and We Live Up Here have created and curated over 20 pieces of public art in Sudbury since the summer of 2013. Tour leaves at 2pm in front of Tracy Baker's Stay Wild mural in Memorial Park. Tours can be done in both French and English upon request. PWYC Pay what you can!
