Pipe Ceremony & Community Designed Sculpture Process

Kagawong Public Beach 15 Old Mill Road, Kagawong, Ontario, Canada

Join 4elements' for a Pipe Ceremony, BBQ Potluck and Art Activity to kick off the process for collaboratively designing one of the sculptures on the Billings Art and Heritage Trail. Hosted by 4elements Living Arts. Pipe Ceremony to be conducted by Elder Josh Eshkokagan (Ojibwe) and Sunny Osawabine (Odaawaa). The event is part of a community arts process to create a permanent public sculpture that responds to and explores relationships between environmental history, land and reconciliation. The pipe ceremony and potluck are intended to celebrate, acknowledge traditions, and share ideas about the project. All are welcome, even if you're shy to participate in the community arts process, if you don't think you're "an artist" come anyway and be part of the ceremony. Billings, M'Chigeeng First Nation and surrounding area community members are kindly invited! This course will cover 6 of the biggest components of public speaking and presentations: -nervousness -owning the stage -timing -vocalizations -speaking off the cuff -putting it all together The interactive course includes hands-on activities, practicing with your peers, and a little bit of action-based homework (not too much!) in order to get you more comfortable with public speaking. Designed for all backgrounds and assuming no prior knowledge or experience, this course will give you the tools you need to break out of your shell! Reel Paddling Film Festival

We know summer seems so far away but we're here to help you get excited about getting out on the water. The Northern Water Sports Centre (NWSC) and Ramakko's Source for Adventure is bringing the Reel Paddling Film Festival 2017 World Tour to Sudbury! Join us at Sudbury Secondary School on May 11 beginning at 6PM. With an evening geared to paddlers and all around outdoor enthusiasts, audiences can expect a fun, social and entertaining event inspired by compelling films. The Reel Paddling Film Festival (RPFF) is an international adventure film tour presenting the world’s best paddling films of the year – whitewater, sea kayaking, canoeing, SUP, action and lifestyle – in more than 120 cities and towns across Canada, United States and around the world. With 20 inspiring paddling films shortlisted for the World Tour, including the ten festival category winners, audiences will see northern river canoe expeditions, grueling kayak fishing battles, hairy whitewater action, sea kayakers exploring remote coastlines, international river travel films, motivating environmental documentaries, and hilarious short films capturing the lighter side of paddling life.
