Sudbury Indie Cinema Co-op, in partnership with CKLU Radio - 96.7, is bringing the stark, haunting, and more relevant than ever, NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD (1968) to the cinema! The event will be a fundraiser for CKLU, will feature a zombie costume contest to be judged by a CKLU DJ with prizes, and will be a spooky evening for all! Romero’s Night of the Living Dead is one of the great stories of independent cinema: a midnight hit turned box-office smash that became one of the most influential films of all time. A deceptively simple tale of a group of strangers trapped in a farmhouse who find themselves fending off a horde of flesh-eating ghouls newly arisen from their graves, Romero’s claustrophobic vision of a late-sixties America (literally) tearing itself apart rewrote the rules of the horror genre, combined gruesome gore with acute social commentary, and quietly broke ground by casting a black actor (Duane Jones) in the lead role. After decades of poor-quality prints and video transfers, Night of the Living Dead can finally be seen for the immaculately crafted film that it is thanks to a new 4K restoration, scanned from the original camera negative and supervised by Romero himself.

Her personal style involves the layering of translucent paints and mixed media which creates emotional depth through layers both real and imagined. Carenie facilitates small group “Women’s Art Retreats” in her Whitefish studio. Artist Statement I find myself loosening the rules that bind my freedom to painterly achievement. Pallet knives, sheer fabric and metal leaf allow a more direct expression of my emotions onto the canvas. My work is colourful, bold, daring and passionate. Combining the highest level of on-ice superstar talent with an ever-evolving touring production, Rock The Rink will produce the highest value of entertainment.
