A backdrop of reference-filled lyrics grasp the gritty, dry edge of modern life - from Canadian soldiers coming home from the Spanish civil war, to kayaking in the Arctic Circle, through a swath of eclectic shards of culture. The band released a sophomore EP, Dear Sahara, in August 2015 and toured Western Canada in support. Dear Sahara boasts four songs tied together by a letter-writing theme, with art and handwritten liner notes byfrontman Graham Moon. It earned a 5/5 review in Canadian Beats, topped the chart at their hometown CKUW, and reached #35 nationally on EarShot! Despite this knowledge, the field of scientific research can sometimes feel like an inhospitable place to many people who don't see themselves reflected in the scientific workforce. And what's the impact on individuals and the field of scientific research itself when we fail?
