MINDFULNESS-BASED STRESS REDUCTION (MBSR) • educational experiential learning program • offered in a group setting, guided by qualified MBSR teachers • 8 weekly classes (2.5 hours each) plus an all-day silent retreat during the 6th week of the program • exploration of mindfulness, stress, communication • intensive training in mindfulness meditation (e.g. Body Scan, Sitting, Walking, Eating, and Gentle Yoga/Body Movement) • 30-40 minutes of daily home meditation practice supported by resource materials • a supportive community with future mindfulness events throughout the year WHY PEOPLE PURSUE MINDFULNESS TRAINING AND PRACTICES · personal wellbeing · professional development · integration into workplace wellness · to assist in the management of illness, pain, and chronic conditions ORIENTATION will be held on Monday January 22/18 (6 PM - 830 PM) and is a requirement to register in the 8-week MBSR program. Orientation provides attendees with additional information, the opportunity to experience a mindfulness exercise in a group setting, and helps participants determine if this program is suitable to meet their needs. There is no cost to attend the Orientation Session. REGISTRATION $475.00 - includes 30 hours of instruction, practice recordings, written instruction, and a certificate of completion. Payment is accepted by cash, cheque or e-transfer. Payment is due Monday January 22, 2018 following the Orientation Session. Some private health plans provide coverage for stress management.
