Kevin Closs is a singer-songwriter from Manitoulin. Since 1988 he has released eleven albums and performed across Canada. His contributions to the Sudbury arts community earned him the Jackie Washington Award in 2002 and the Mayor’s Celebration of the Arts Award in 2016 - William Bell Gazebo

In recognition of Canada's 150th birthday, we're going to host a concert in the park summer series beginning Wednesday July 5th with 4 more concerts to follow. JOSH TURNBULL This “hired gun” occasionally steps out from behind the drum kit to share his sweet and sometimes bizarre brand of folk-pop songs. His music blends folk, jazz, blues, rock, gospel, and everything else he’s happened to pick up along the way. Last year’s endeavour ‘FieldTest’, an album with musical partner Sara Ciantar, earned Josh a nomination for NOMFA’s ‘Best vocal performance on a recording’. Now marching alone, with two singles available online, Josh is hard at work making his next solo album.

The ‘cool dad’ of Ontario’s music festival scene will kick off the season with its 46th anniversary edition at Sudbury’s beautiful Bell Park July 6th-9th, 2017. In 1972, when the first festival was held, festivals weren’t ‘a thing’, like they are now. The ‘Northern Lights Folk Festival’ was a free one-day music festival on one stage; needless to say it has grown exponentially since. It remains Canada’s longest, continually running, outdoor music festival. NLFB is proud to be taking that rich history into the future, at a time where civic pride in Sudbury’s cultural institutions is booming. The NLFB team intends to outdo itself in every way this year. The 2017 lineup is guaranteed to leave festival-goers with unforgettable memories of iconic performances, and with a long list of favourite new musicians.
