The Junction Creek Amazing Race is back! Mark your calendars, gather your teammates, and start training. This fundraising event is a fun way to get together and give back to our local environment. Proceeds go towards the restoration of Junction Creek which not only improves the health of our watershed, biodiversity, and community, but also beautifies our urban green spaces for everyone to enjoy. Teams will connect with Junction Creek as they explore the trails, learn about the watershed, gain stewardship skills, and assist in restoration. This year the Junction Creek Stewardship Committee is collaborating with a number of organizations and businesses in the community to create an assortment of challenges that will test participant's fitness, knowledge, problem solving, and team work skills. Participants will receive swag bags and will also have the chance to win some amazing prizes! Stay tuned for registration and more event details.

Monday Urban Poling Sept 16-30: Superstore to Twin Forks

This will be a moderate walk along scenic trails. Make sure to dress for the weather: use your preferred form of protection from the sun, wear study, comfortable footwear, and don't forget to fill up your water bottle and bring it along as well! Yet, with some 5000 film festivals worldwide, pragmatic and informed decisions must be made. Sean Farnel, who started his career as a film critic for The Sudbury Star and later was the Programming Coordinator for Cinéfest, will present an overview of film festival distribution strategies and the Documentary Organization of Canada's Festival Concierge service. This artful and intimate meditation on the legendary story-teller examines her life, her works and the powerful themes she has confronted throughout her literary career.
