For the full schedule visit: www.nlfb.ca/events-schedule Thursday night after hours show ft. acclaimed Toronto indie-rock band Zeus. North Bay's David Dino White will warm things up. Zeus Zeus is a Toronto-based Canadian classic/modern rock band. They've been nominated for the prestigious Polaris Prize, earned accolades from New York Times, Rolling Stone, and NPR, and have served as the backing band for Canadian musician Jason Collett. Zeus' third LP is the unapologetically titled Classic Zeus (2014), resuming its affair with timeless melody, vintage ambience, and instant future classicism. Classic Zeus is the band's most cohesive and heartfelt record to date: a truly collective effort of singular vision: 11 songs of introspective pop and spirited rock and roll, buoyed by Zeus' studio mastery reinvented. David Dino White Born and raised in North Bay, Ontario, David’s ability to harness his guitar’s full potential as a trans-genre instrument is what defines his unique and haunting style. Every song begs to be listened to more than once, rich with complexity both lyrically and melodically. For tickets visit www.nlfb.ca/tickets. NOTE: Full Festival and Friday pass holders only guaranteed entry, pending limited capacity. Otherwise, show admission may be available by paying cover at the door. 19+ Doors at 10pm. Every 1st Saturday of the month, we invite the whole RRA family to get together for a hike exploring our beautiful nature trails! We are especially pleased to be able to invite you to join us on a hike in lovely Capreol for July's monthly hike club. Partly in celebration of the new Transit routes soon to come out (August 2019), and partly because we are excited about Sudbury's recent hard work in promoting active transportation, we decided we'd love to take the city Transit out to our hike this month! We will take the regular Transit bus out to Capreol. The bus leaves downtown at 9 a.m. The scenic ride takes a little less than 45 mintues, and because none of us will have to watch the road, we can chat and visit on our way. We'll then hike around the town's trails (yes, there are more than one!), and hopefully have a bit of time to see some of the other attractions in the town before we hop back on the bus to return to downtown at 12:30. Please RSVP so we know how many we expect to need a seat on the bus. Hike Leaders: Ursula Sauve Distance: tbd Duration: ~ 2 hours Difficulty: easy to moderate NOTE: Because this is a regular transit route (not a charter bus) make sure you leave yourself enough time to arrive at the downtown bus terminal 5 or so minutes before 9 am. Bus fares are $3.40 for adult, and $2.50 for Seniors (65 and up).
For the full schedule visit: www.nlfb.ca/events-schedule Thursday night after hours show ft. Canadian-Mexican party starter Boogát. Roots-fusion duo Jennis will start the night off. Boogát Boogát is a Canadian-Mexican musician from Montreal, blending hip-hop with Latin music styles such as cumbia, salsa and reggaeton. His album Neo-Reconquista won the Juno and Félix award for World Music Album of the Year at the 2016 Juno Awards and the ADISQ gala, respectively. He released his first full-length Spanish album El Dorado Sunset in 2013, which earned two Félix Awards at ADISQ 2013. He has been touring all over the world ever since. San Cristóbal Baile Inn, which includes collaborations with Andrés Oddone, Frikstailers, Miss Bolivia, and Lemon Bucket Orchestra, was released in 2017. Dancing shoes are recommended! Jennis Jennis delivers more sound, variety and fun than one would think could fit into a single touring vehicle. The duo brings together award-winning Guelph-based Dennis Gaumond’s decades of experience writing and performing original blues and folk and the diverse musical experiences of veteran Toronto indie-scene multi-instrumentalist Jen Gillmor. The unique blend of cello and dobro is also augmented by unusual sounds, such as didgeridoo, custom-tuned harmonicas, flute, wah-guitar, jaw harp and wazinator. This vast palette of sound is presented by the dear friends with energy, passion and humour, as they draw on their vast performance experience to engage audiences.
