An Evening at Hogwarts: Philosopher’s Stone

Have you ever wondered what it was like to get your letter and make the journey to Hogwarts? This is your chance to have that experience. Your journey begins as soon as you enter the hall, you'll stop at various stations to collect themed items from favourite characters before visiting Mr. Ollivander for your wand and boarding a car on the Hogwarts Express through platform 9 3/4. Once you exit your train car you will be entering into the Great Hall at Hogwarts to take your seat at your house table, watch the sorting ceremony and enjoy a meal under the watchful eye of Professors and Dumbledore himself. Represent your house as you take part in various activities and earn points towards the house cup, this is an event that you don't want to miss and all in support of the Canadian Cancer Society. During the month of August, we have invited restaurants/cafés in Greater Sudbury to participate in a burger frenzy to battle for the title of ‘Best Burger’ in town, while raising funds for NEO Kids Foundation! How it works- Burger lovers will visit as many of the participating restaurants as possible in August and vote for their favourite burger on our website www.sudburyburgerwars.com For every burger sold at each location, $1 will be donated to NEO Kids Foundation to help keep our children closer to home. Jason Ramcharan was born and raised in Toronto, then enjoyed being an academia brat whose family moved around Canada and the US as his father accepted positions at different universities. Jason studied at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, and later George Brown College in Toronto. He has always had a desire to understand the way things work, but his specific interest in the way the universe works was first inspired by Carl Sagan's "Cosmos", then by Stephen Hawking's "A Brief History of Time". It was through Hawking that Jason was introduced to the work of other seminal physicists like Albert Einstein, Richard Feynman, Niels Bohr, Erwin Schrodinger, Max Planck, Werner Heisenberg, Paul Dirac, and David Bohm, among others. Jason currently resides in Sudbury, Ontario, and does freelance web and graphic design in addition to his artistic practice. Artist Statement: "The exploration of ideas surrounding physics, cosmology, consciousness, and perception is the primary motivation behind my creative impulse. I do not create art in series. If a series of works is a novel, my pieces represent an anthology of short stories.”

Element Racing, XTERRA , the Northern Cancer Foundation, Miles Against Cancer and Kivi Park are partnering to bring you XTERRA Conquer the Crater! This event will be in support of the Northern Cancer Foundation’s Miles Against Cancer Fund! XTERRA: Conquer the Crater will be held at Kivi Park, on August 3 - 4, 2019. As part of the XTERRA world tour, Sudbury, Ontario will now be a premier destination and home to a world championship qualifying event. 10-15 World Age Group spots will be up for grabs to compete at the 2019 XTERRA World Championships in Maui Hawaii, on October 27, 2019. This event will provide the opportunity for full and short-course athletes in both off-road triathlon and duathlon, cross-country runners and children to participate in a world class event. 100% of the monies raised will support the Northeast Cancer Centre for Pediatric patient care, equipment and research.
