Godspell was the first major musical theatre offering from three-time Grammy and Academy Award winner, Stephen Schwartz (Wicked, Pippin, Children of Eden), and it took the world by storm. Led by the international hit, "Day by Day," Godspell features a parade of beloved songs, including "Prepare Ye the Way of the Lord," "Learn Your Lessons Well," "All for the Best," "All Good Gifts," "Turn Back, O Man" and "By My Side." A small group of people help Jesus Christ tell different parables by using a wide variety of games, storytelling techniques and hefty doses of comic timing. An eclectic blend of songs, ranging in style from pop to vaudeville, is employed as the story of Jesus' life dances across the stage. Dissolving hauntingly into the Last Supper and the Crucifixion, Jesus' messages of kindness, tolerance and love come vibrantly to life. Boasting a score with chart topping songs, a book by a visionary playwright (John-Michael Tebelak) and a feature film, Godspell is a sensation that continues to touch audiences. Because of its small technical demands and minimal cast size, it has become a staple of theatre companies, large and small.

Back by popular demand following his show in 2016 and enthusiastic response to his appearance at last summer's Northern Lights Festival! Russell deCarle is no stranger to awards and accolades â His years as the lead vocalist and bassist of the iconic Canadian country roots band, Prairie Oyster, were rewarded with six Juno Awards, more than a dozen Canadian Country Music Awards and enough gold and platinum records and #1 singles to fill a living room wall. "Oyster" was inducted into the Canadian Country Music Hall of Fame in 2008. The truth is, though, that Prairie Oyster was always more than a âcountryâ band, and deCarleâs warm, burnished and intimate voice has always honoured an eclectic range of songs. Expect to hear a fluent collection of songs that mix southern soul and restrained balladry, with obvious touches of jazz, blues, rollicking Tex-Mex, old-school country classics, and western swing. Russell deCarleâs songwriting has absorbed all those influences, and he avidly listens to smooth soul singers and the men and women who made early country music so compelling. In his latest solo album, Alone In This Crowd, there are eight original songs and three covers. He will be accompanied by superb ace guitarist Steve Briggs, who is always subtle, tasteful, and understated, but central to deCarleâs sound. A native of Powell River B.C., Briggs is a graduate of the Berklee School of Music in Boston. Steve has performed, arranged and recorded with a host of musical stars including Sylvia Tyson, Quartette, Murray McLauchlan, Leon Redbone and Carroll Baker among many others. He was also the leader of the Bebop Cowboys, probably the best western swing band Canada ever produced. Dinner and entertainment combined is $60.00 including HST. Show-only seats are $25.00 each. Doors open at 6:00 p.m. with the buffet dinner served...

We are excited to host RGD's, Future By Design. Join us in room 3503, for presentations by Chris Do, Jessica Zhang and Jason Pamental! The future is written! The evolution of design on digital platforms is being driven in part by by the oldest element of graphic design: type. Since most of the web is words, itâs fitting that the greatest advances are centred around typography. Not only can we implement many of typographic techniques but the technology of fonts themselves has evolved to make not just the design responsive to screen size and user context, but the type itself also. Variable fonts let us make use of the whole design space of a typeface and give us ways to react to user context. Weâre just beginning to explore how we can shape the interaction between reader and text or userâs environment and the presentation of content. During Jason's presentation, weâll look at how this works live in a web browser during, with links to sample pages and code, and guides on how to make use of the new features. Itâs a really exciting time to help shape what comes next. This event is free to RGD members, and $7 for non-members. SONIA EKIYOR-KATIMI Sonia Ekiyor-Katimi is a Nigerian self taught artist completing her master of architecture in Sudbury. Challenging the stereotypes that restrict individual Blackness, she determines to represent the quotidian as well as the intricacies of Black culture in daily life. With a mindset of placeless, Sonia Ekiyor-Katimi aims to represent all the observations of Blackness and adaptability as it pertains to her history living in three different continents without a fixed identity. As a primary architectural professional, Sonia has taken part in art festivals, art battles and storefront displays but is finding her way into the realm of being a multidisciplinary creator through architecture, set design, painting, photography, drawing and collage. RUBY GIBSON Ruby Gibson was born in Harare, Zimbabwe to a Zimbabwean mother and Canadian father. She discovered a love for art through her grandmother, a professional painter in British Columbia. Ruby studied graphic design at York University and Sheridan College in their Honours Bachelor of Design program. Ruby loves teaching arts & crafts workshops as well as volunteering in the community. Ruby owns and operates an eco-friendly arts & crafts company called Artcraft Co. that focuses on using art as a tool for environmental awareness education. When she is not making art or running her business, Ruby works in film and television both behind the scenes and in front of the camera. Ruby's focus for this exhibition is Afro-futurism. So much of African history has been lost to the violent sands of time, leaving behind an incomplete picture of who we really are. In her collection, Ruby asks the viewer to abandon their preconceptions of what it is to be black today and imagine a new future where the earth is sacred, the possibilities are limitless and beauty is infinite. As a biracial woman, Ruby's work is...
