Friday's night line-up includes: Nick Sherman + Rico Littledeer Singer-songwriter, Nick Sherman, gives new meaning to “the voice in the wilderness,” or rather, the voice from the wilderness. While he still calls his rural birthplace of Sioux Lookout home, Nick spent much of his youth out on the land, moving between his hometown, the small First Nation community of Weagamow Lake, and his family’s trapline on North Caribou Lake. His gentle voice is rich with honesty and the vitality of youth, but tempered with world-weariness, atop his strong, simple guitar. As a part of the Indigenous Music Mentorship Program, Nick will be performing with his mentee, Rico Littledeer. Frank Deresti and the Lake Effect An adventurous and versatile group of musicians, impressing audiences across the country since 2012. They have gained a following with their undeniable musicianship and unique take on the singer-songwriter genre. From heart-felt ballads to spontaneous moments of unbridled energy, this band is a must-see. Greyson Gritt Born of an Ojibway mother and a Métis Father, Greyson Gritt is an award-winning artist, and a tattooed, gender queer, folk-blues-playin' songwriter! Jennifer Holub and the Erratics Holub’s songs are about the things that torment us. Her new album “The Reckoning” is a hawkish condemnation of society’s place for women, and an urgent call to rouse from it. At the age of 32, she made the reckless decision to leave it all behind for a music career.
