GET TO KNOW YOUR DOWNTOWN WITH THE SUDBURY SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA

This weekend is shaping up to be a perfect one to enjoy the fall weather and the Sudbury Symphony Orchestra wants to get you out downtown to explore! The second annual Symphony Crawl is going on this Saturday, September 28th starting at noon and culminating in a 5PM finale performance by Northern Brass Choir and Friends of the Sudbury Symphony Orchestra at the School of Architecture. Over the course of the day passport holders will have the chance to see over 80 different musicians at 25 different downtown locations! This is a great afternoon to get to know some of your downtown business owners and maybe even find a new favourite spot! Each spot will have goodies for you to sample or gift for you to take home. And don’t forget to have your passport signed! Visit all 25 locations and you can enter your signed passport for a grand prize. All proceeds from this event go towards the Symphony’s upcoming 44th season.

Tickets are available for $50 at Sudbury Symphony Orchestra Office (96 Larch St.), One Sky Fine Goods (125 Durham St.), Jett Landry Music (1119 Lasalle Blvd.), Gourmet World (1984 Regent St.) or visit www.sudburysymphony.com for more details. Here are some of the locations you’ll be able to catch performances this weekend:

Good Luck General Store – 149 Durham St

One of our favourite little treasures downtown! They’re stocked in everything from plants, skincare, and tarot cards. If you’re looking for a gift this is your first stop! Even if you’re looking for nothing at all their rotating stock of curiosities will ensure you find something special. We love that they feature lots of local and Canadian brands on their shelves (and petting Cauli when you visit is a bonus)!

The shop will be hosting: Danielle Conti @ 1PM & Helena Cheu @ 3PM

Guilty Pleasures Bakeshop + Bar – 82 Cedar Street

If you’re looking for decadent treats this is the place to be! Known for their stunning custom cakes and cupcakes this little bakery also offers a full coffee bar and house-made soups in a sophisticated atmosphere. Still need to satisfy that sweet tooth? They’re always serving up different goodies, from butter tarts, cookies, and their famous Pete de Soeur (made by owner Justine’s mémère).

The shop will be hosting: The Recordables @ 1PM & Chris Newman 2-5PM

The Laughing Buddha – 194 Elgin St

One of our favourite spots to grab a bite and a few cocktails! This gem right on the Elgin strip always has an eclectic rotating menu of great eats from apps, sandwiches, to weekly pizza features. Their menu features lots of different options from vegan, gluten-free, too loaded with cheese – there’s something for everyone! They boast a stellar beer list from domestics to hard to find imports and always have new and creative cocktail features on the go!

This venue will be hosting: Jon & Geoff @ 12PM, Sudbury Guitar Trio @ 1PM, Mélanie & Beth @ 2PM, Sylvain & Melissa @ 3PM, and Jubliation @ 4PM

The Townehouse Tavern – 206 Elgin St

How could this venue not be on the list for the Symphony Crawl?! The Townehouse has been a staple in live music in Sudbury for over 30 years! Come on in and make yourself at home, at the Townehouse you’re family. Aside from the music they’re known for serving up the best burgers in town from beef, beet & hemp and even portobello. For a limited time, you can give their new chicken and cauliflower tacos a whirl too, we highly recommend!

This venue will be hosting: Duo46 @ 12PM, Dr. Tom’s Travelling Medicine Show 1-3PM, and Jacinthe Brisebois @ 3PM

Try your best to make it to all 25 venues on Saturday, September 28th for the second annual Symphony Crawl in support of Sudbury Symphony Orchestra! Visit each location and get to know a different downtown location. Have your passport signed and enter your completed ballot for your chance to win a grand prize!
