The Métis released first music video: After Party Blues!

It’s time to talk about the After Party Blues! And no, we’re not talking about the unfortunate next day hangover that we’ve all experienced once or twice. Sudbury’s very own hardcore band, The Métis, have just released their first music video, After Party Blues, and we can’t get enough of it!

The music video centers around a theme of realism and dark aspects of life, providing insights and creative illustrations of inner demons we sometimes need to battle. It all begins with a man who’s striving to fight addiction; an epic chase throughout the video by a man in a mask symbolizes the struggle between the protagonist and his inner turmoil. Ultimately, he realizes that he’s not being pursued by a man in a mask anymore-he’s running from himself.

The Métis shared with us some of their thoughts on the music video, which was officially released on January 20th.

“We are extremely excited about the outcome. Josh Desormeaux (Director) and Mat Seguin (Cinematographer) did an incredible job putting their ideas together to come up with the finished product. We had a total of 4 days of shooting and each day was super exciting. It was really amazing to see all the locals come out and help out as well, we would love to thank each and every one of you who came out”.

They also wanted to say “a big thanks to Respect is Burning for donating their back-alley way as a location for us to use. The location looked absolutely stunning on video”

The Métis put out their first studio album, San Francisco, on March 24th 2016, and was recorded by Dunstan Topp, who the band says a huge thank you to.

“The name came from the street where all 4 of us first started to write music. When we first started jamming it was Justin Lamothe and Kris Roszel on Guitar, so Phil Bonhomme decided he would pick up his first Bass. We looked for a drummer but no luck, so Kris decided he would try it out. Never playing drums before really, it was incredible how well he his drumming fit our little jams we had”.

It wasn’t until after a few more jam sessions that a fourth member, Nick Strong, came into the picture to add some vocals to the group, and that’s when the band ‘The Métis’ was born.

“We are extremely excited to start working more on our second album and playing some more shows!”

You can find The Métis playing some local venues such as the Townhouse, and trust us when we say it’s a show you definitely won’t want to miss. If you want to know a little more about the band, you can always head over to their Facebook page to keep track of their upcoming gigs.

Also, check out their “San Francisco” album for your daily dose of hardcore music therapy.
