This organization is here in support to those in need financially and are helping families across Northern Ontario who have a child diagnosed with cancer.
Why did you decide to participate in Miss North Ontario Regional Canada Pageant?
I decided to participate in the Miss North Ontario Regional Canada Pageant 2016 because I think respect is a significant quality to have as a Miss North Ontario delegate and or titleholder. With that said, I strongly believe qualities of a good leader should possess an exemplary character, it is important that a leader is trustworthy to lead others with honesty and integrity. A good leader is enthusiastic about their work or cause and also about their role as leader. People will respond more openly to a person of passion and dedication. A good leader is confident; inspire to aspire. A leader also needs to function in an orderly and purposeful manner. A positive demeanor is always good. A good leader is able to think analytically. To conclude, a good leader is committed to excellence. I believe I possess these qualities and would be honored to be an ambassador representing my Hometown of Greater Sudbury. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Mama Cheryl who is the president of the MNO pageant for her phenomenal work to make this event about having a “beauty with a purpose”. This pageant is more so a self-discovery work shop to gain confidence within yourself to shine bright in order to inspire and achieve your goals in the real world. It really helps you to become a well-rounded individual. I strongly encourage to girls between the ages of 13-25 to part take in this wonderful opportunity in the near future!
Each contestant chooses a platform they want to promote – What have you chosen as your platform?
The Power of Perseverance- Encouraging Children with Disabilities to Reach For the Stars. I am honored to have been chosen as a delegate representing the City of Greater Sudbury. As a young woman with a disability, I believe it is important for these young women as well as the public to realize that people with disabilities have the same feelings and goals as everyone else. They should not be treated differently or feel ashamed of themselves. They have the same rights and should be given the same opportunities as others, regardless of the nature of their disability. They are an asset to the community and can contribute as much as anyone else. They should value and be proud of their uniqueness. As Ms. Greater Sudbury, it is my goal to bring awareness to this unique group of individuals and show that they can be very proud of who they are. As someone who has a disability and someone who has witnessed the way society reacts towards these individuals, I will strive to bring a better understanding to what having a disability means and close the gap society has created. Having a disability means you may need to find alternative ways of doing things, an activity may take you longer than others but that does not mean it is impossible. There is Power in Perseverance. People with disabilities do not give up easily. They must work harder to prove they can accomplish something. It is my intent as a contestant in the Miss North Ontario Regional Canada Pageant to show, to encourage and to be an example that people with disabilities can accomplish their goals and be successful in life. Disabilities are very often looked at as a hindrance, but I am an example that if you accept your disability with a positive mindset, you can reach any goal you strive for. A disability is only a disability if you let it become one, and this is why I will be using this title as a platform to represent children with disabilities at this prestigious event, to be an advocate for those with disabilities.
