Tell us more about the Night at the Grotto event and the local talent involved

A Night at the Grotto was conceived by Lucio Fabris, the owner and pharmacist at Medi-I-Well. For the past 8 years, he has watched his 82 year old godfather, John Masotti, design and build an absolutely beautiful fountain and colonnade.

John created the Grotto with the vision of having a safe place for people of our community to go to and be able to find even just a moment of peace, calm and joy. His vision came to life with the thousands of hours of work donated by himself, Arnel Michel, Ernie Savard and all the many volunteers at the Grotto. Many people have all worked together to create this sanctuary in the middle of our city.

At the same time, Lucio became aware of the tremendous amount of musical talent that Sudbury has to offer. Lucio envisioned a concert to bring together the community, raise funds for local charities, highlight some of Sudbury’s musical talent, and showcase the beauty of the Grotto.

Who will be performing?

This year’s concert will showcase the talent of Jeff Wiseman, Pandora Topp, Iona Reed, Ron Kelly, Sarah Craig, Jim Matt, Jamie Dupuis and the Sudbury Youth Choir.

Proceeds from this event will be donated to four local charities. Tell us more about how these charities were selected and how these funds will help our community.

The donations for this concert will assist the essential health care services that are provided by NEO Kids– A Northern Ontario referral centre for children, NISA- the Northern Initiative for Social Action which assist many people in our community with mental health issues, the Janis Foligno Foundation– a local family fundraising initiative which has helped drive local cancer initiatives and research and lastly the Grotto- to assist the maintenance of the grounds which we hope will be the site of many more successful community events. These charities were chosen because as a health care professional in the community for thirty years, Lucio realizes the need to promote and provide services to the people of our community to help them achieve overall wellbeing- mentally, physically, spiritually and emotionally. Many of these charities and their causes have touched the family of Lucio personally. The funds raised through A Night at the Grotto will help our community by strengthening the health care services we provide to the families of Northern Ontario which will in turn strengthen our community as a whole for a long time to come.
