OPEN STUDIO HAS YOUR ULTIMATE MIXEDTYPE

Cambrian College’s Open Studio is at it again with a new exhibition of student made artwork in partnership with Makers North, this time with a very local flavour! Their latest show entitled Mixedtype is described as an audio and visual collaborative experiment melding the worlds of lyricism and design. In a unique challenge Cambrian College second year students paired with local musicians to turn their lyrics into hand rendered typographic posters! All posters at the Mixedtype event will be available for auction with all proceeds going towards the Blue Door Soup Kitchen. The exhibition kicks off March 2nd to 18th at Open Studio (93 Cedar St).

Starting things off with a bang on March 2nd join Makers North & Cambrian College Graphic Design students and faculty for an evening of live music and mingling! This is your chance to meet the designers and the musicians who inspired their work as well as place your bid to take home a poster of your own! Performances from featured artists will include Stef Paquette, Jen Holub, Lisa Marie, Spencer Jose, Martine, Josh Turnbull, Silvertongue, Jo Po & BBBRTHR. Doors open at 6pm at the Open Studio with opening remarks at 7pm, admission is free but donations are always welcome.

The Mixedtype exhibit will feature poster artwork inspired by local musicians Jeff Valentini, BBBRTHR, Stef Paquette, Eric Clancy, Lisa Marie, Lori Paradis, Shawn Kosmerly, Sam King, Sarah Craig, Jen Holub, Jo Po, Andrew Boyd, Barry Miles, Martine, Maty Ralph, Silvertongue, Spencer Jose and Josh Turnbull. Mixedtype will be on display from March 2nd-18th Tues, Wed, Sat: 12-4 pm; Thurs, Fri: 2-6 pm.
