PLAYMINE IS BACK WITH FINAL EDITION, CHURN

Don’t miss out on a one of a kind theatre experience! PlayMine is back with the third and final edition of its new works presentations! This ingenious collaboration between Sudbury Theatre Centre and Pat the dog has seen three working scripts presented in front of Sudbury audiences throughout the 2018/2019 season. The first of such readings Manifestos by Jesse Brady in November was a hit with a great turn out, engaged audience and thoughtful conversation afterwards. Their second edition of the series featured Cora Eckert presenting her working script,Conception, in January and was again a resounding success for both creators and audience. The final edition of the PlayMine series features award-winning Chapleau playwright Mansel Robinson’s new play Churn on Friday April 5th 7PM in the Steve’s Encore lounge. Admission is by donation and the reading will be followed by a Q&A with the playwright. Don’t miss your chance to get a seat and watch a brand new piece of theatre come to life!

Churn is the story of a troubled young musician drifting dangerously close to suicide and the cousin who is trying to save her life. Hoping to divert Charlotte from her nihilistic trajectory, Emma has come up with a wacky but heartfelt plan of attack: a world-wide pilgrimage to sites of hope and heroism. But now, they have gone missing and their grandmother is working overtime to understand and avert this family crisis.

The opportunity to present a working script to an audience is invaluable to the process of creating a new piece of theatre. Pat the dog works heavily with Northern Ontario playwrights helping them develop their skills, navigate their next steps, work new pieces and network with other writers. Sudbury Theatre Centre has been a cornerstone in the community for over 45 years and aims always to provide extraordinary and engaging performances. A perfect duo to bring PlayMine to life! Churn will be read Friday April 5th @7PM in Steve’s Encore lounge at STC, written by award-winning Chapleau playwright Mansel Robinson with intimate conversation to follow. This is the last reading of the season but watch out for Playsmelter New Work Theatre Festival coming up April 30-May 4, 2019 presented by your friends at Pat the dog.
