Brian Ramakko and his family have been in business for 33 years, starting with 1000 square feet and $12,000 as a bait and tackle shop, all the way to a 20,000-sq. ft., multi-department and multi-sport hub that hosts a staff of 46 outdoor enthusiasts and customer service specialists! Ramakko’s has seen six expansions and location changes, and experienced massive growth right along with Sudbury’s needs and wants.

What started out as an idea for a small business and a nudge from family, Brian opened his first store after graduating university. Originally a fishing needs retailer; selling rods, and reels, bait and lures, Brian realized that fishing is seasonal, and with every new season comes new ways to enjoy the outdoors. From there, he envisioned bringing a more technical and specialist brand of knowledge to the local consumer. The staff at Ramakko’s take this approach to each of their departments.

Brian then expanded to include hunting, fishing, camping, paddling and apparel as well as footwear. Ramakko’s now offers an even wider selection of the top brands for all of your adventuring needs, or, as Brian would say, “We morph to maintain relevance. We keep growing and building, and changing with the community”.
