We spoke with Matthew Rupoli, General Manager, to find out more!
What’s the story behind Sudbury Sport and Social Club?
The Sport and Social Club story stems all the way back to 1996 with the Toronto Sport and Social Club. You can read ab article about the founder Kristi Herold (Sudbury native) and how it all got started here. The Sudbury Sport and Social Club began back in 2011. In correspondence with the Toronto Sport and Social Club staff, 23 teams kicked off the inaugural Sudbury season. Fast forward now, to 2016, The Sudbury Sport and Social Club register over 220 teams annually. Apart of the biggest Sport and Social club family in North America, our umbrella of cities represents Toronto, York, Mississauga, Hamilton and of course Sudbury.

How many different sports are offered?
The Sport and Social Club operate with 4 seasons: Winter, spring, summer, and fall. Leagues are typically designed in seasons of 8-10 weeks to allow for consistent change-up, reduced schedule conflicts and an ability to try new sports! Many of the same leagues are offered in multiple seasons, so the option presents itself to continue playing the same sport or switching it up.

Are the teams competitive or can anyone or any skill level play?
Our first priority is having fun. While we offer different skill levels in most of our sports, the focus is always on having a good time. We take our fun seriously around here. Anyone can play!…Let us rephrase that, anyone over 19 can play! Most of our members are in their 20’s and 30’s but there is no age cap. All athletic abilities are welcome too. We aim to be the “Look Forward” event of the week; we’re the break in between work days, the deep breath when stress builds and the environment for friends to be social while enjoying sports!
Where can people register?
Our primary Site: www.sudburyssc.com
If you’re a new comer then you first have to create a profile with us here.
This will allow you to register for all our offered leagues and tournaments. Once a profile is created, all your Sport and Social activity is at your fingertips. All your current leagues will be accessible; you will be able to view your league rules, your roster and your schedule/standings. All your previous seasons will also be tracked and kept for you to visit whenever you’d like. There is an option to refer new members within your profile and upon doing so will receive redeemable credits: a $1 Credit is issued if referred individuals create a profile and a $25 credit is issued if that individual ends up registering for a league.
When Registration opens for the upcoming season, the easiest way to see which sports are available is to check out our Sports Offered Page. Here you will be able to check out league details and decide which sport would be best for you!
