Three Things You Should Know about Music and Film In Motion

Music and Film in Motion (MFM) is Sudbury’s go-to place for information on film production in the north. A division of Cultural Industries Ontario North (CION), MFM works to support all media productions, from feature films to music videos, shot right here in northern Ontario. They are heavily involved in the Sudbury community, hosting workshops for media artists, marketing local films and creations, and planning public events.

“The goal for everything MFM does when it comes to the film and music industries is geared towards the overall promotion of the healthy and sustainable growth of all Northern Ontario’s cultural industries.”

Overall, they’re creating quite the impact in our northern film industry! We checked in with MFM to learn some fun facts about this great organization. Read on to find out more.

1. Be prepared for lots of exciting events this year!

As always, MFM will be putting on several music showcases throughout the year featuring an amazing variety of bands, singers, musical acts and venues (Keep following on MFM and Our Crater for upcoming dates).

A brand new wave of productions in both film and television have confirmed that they will be shooting in Northern Ontario in 2016, and several TV series are returning for their second seasons. Due to the steady growth of the industry and the number of productions choosing our region as their filming destination, northern crew and talent will have many more opportunities to continue their careers in 2016 without leaving the North!

2. Want to find out about past productions shot right here in northern Ontario?

Over at cionorth.ca, you will find the monthly news recap “Northern Exposure”, plus tons of featured video content, details on their programming and a complete listing of all the productions shot in northern Ontario since 2001.

3. Working in Media Production? Register online on the Film Crew Database

If you or someone you know is involved or looking for more involvement in the film industry, look no further than MFM’s online Film Crew Database, where production companies working in the North go to recruit and hire their crew.

MFM is also always available to offer a free consultation to any artist or business in Northern Ontario. They consult on topics such as location scouting, casting, networking, tour booking, recording, funding for recording projects, copyright, royalties, marketing, social media and music videos.
