After an almost maddeningly long Sudbury winter, it’s finally here: patio season! We know you’ve missed kicking back in the sun, day drinking, and binge eating delicious apps surrounded by your favourite people – we know we sure have! We like to make the most out of the summer heat, which is why you’ll most likely be seeing us hitting up our favourite restaurants and lounging on some of the best patios around town.

In case you wanted to try some of them out for yourself, we’ve put together five of our favourite patios for summer, starting with those located in the heart of downtown Sudbury!

Tucos Tacos

Serving up authentic Mexican and American style cuisine, Tucos Tacos is famous for their delicious vegan food, their amazing drink menu, and their spectacular patio. Newly built but nothing short of amazing, the patio features its own “Taco Bar”, ample seating, and rustic décor that gives off that laid-back vibe that we all know and love. While you’re kicking back and enjoying the sun, why not try a Purple Rain cocktail? This yummy blend of vodka, blue curacao, cranberry and pineapple juice is the perfect way to get into that summer groove.

Laughing Buddha

 A staple in downtown Sudbury, the Laughing Buddha is the perfect place to enjoy a little lunchtime getaway, casual dinner, or a late-night rendezvous with friends. While the interior features an intimate space surrounded by beautiful works of art, the outdoor patio is quite the spectacle as well – beautiful hanging lights and wall clinging vines give this outdoor space a “magical garden” feel. And what better way to enjoy this beautiful scenery on a hot summer day than to indulge in their wicked Sangria; your choice of red or white wine and an assortment of fresh fruits, this signature patio drink is sure to make your day.

Peddler’s Pub

With live music, thirteen beers on tap, and weekly drink specials, Peddler’s Pub is definitely a stop that you need to make on any night out. Located in the heart of downtown, Peddler’s beautiful outdoor patio allows for spacious seating, and one of the best views of the local shops that Sudbury has to offer! Many say that Peddler’s patio contributes to an overall sense of community and speaks to the culture and entertainment component of our downtown core. Whether you’re looking for a great night out with friends or simply a casual lunch with family, we highly suggest you hit up Peddler’s Pub, grab a Strongbow Cider, and see what the patio hype is all about!

Fromagerie Elgin

Located at 81 Elgin Street, Fromagerie Elgin is Sudbury’s best speciality cheese shop, featuring an array of imported meats, cheeses, olives, and other delicious things! Not only do they serve homemade soups and sandwiches, but they also offer live music as well as monthly galleries, making this a frequently buzzing and vibrant spot for all to visit. With a wide selection of fine ales and wines, make the most of any summer night by grabbing a delicious glass of red (or white, if that’s more your thing!) and head outside to grab a seat on Fromagerie Elgin’s lovely patio. Trust us, it really doesn’t get much better than this.

Doghouse

Not only do they have the best wings around town, but they also have one of our favourite patios to hit up on a warm summer day! Head upstairs and out into the sunshine; the Doghouse’s patio resembles a rooftop terrace and is the perfect spot to enjoy good company, and good drinks. While you’re there, why not try their signature Caesar? All the makings of a delicious, classic Caesar with a special Doghouse twist- a secret blend of seasonings and garnished with a Cajun chicken wing!
