3rd Annual Songs of Summer Festival – Songs of Summer Music Festival by Theatre Cambrian is happening the days of August 19th, 20th, and 21st at 40 Eyre Street in Sudbury. We are featuring a variety of local bands and artists, kids activities, as well as a unique compilation of local food and beverage vendors. Bring the family out for a great weekend! As many as twenty local bands are joining us as well as some exciting headlining acts. Coming to the festival Friday August 19th is Rock Goddess LEE AARON. Taking the stage on Saturday August 20th is Pop sensation SHAWN DESMAN. Sunday August 21st coming to the Theatre Cambrian stage is Canadian icon and lead singer from Glass Tiger ALAN FREW. The festival aims to be a family friendly, local, and affordable way for Sudburians to enjoy the best Sudbury has to offer. 6:00 p.m. – August 21st 11:00 p.m.@ Theatre Cambrian – 40 Eyre Street

Valley East Days Battle of the Bands Finals – You don’t want to miss the Valley East Days Battle of the Bands Finals featuring the top 3 bands Mandala, Crone of War & Lennie’s Garage. These 3 bands had the highest scores out of a total of 12 bands that participated in the contest. Please come out on August 19th to support the Battle of the Band Finalists. The winning band will win $1000 in cash and will be opening for Rock night at valley East Days on September 10th. Cost: $5 – 9:00 p.m. @ Cousin Vinny’s Restaurant and Bar – 5085 Hwy 69 N

Mudmoiselle in Sudbury – Get ready for a day of mud, sweat and cheers. The Mudmoiselle obstacle course is a 5 km stretch of Canada’s muckiest, filthiest, slimiest mud. It’s where your inner child runs free while testing your endurance, strength and ability to keep a straight face.This women’s only event is open to all fitness levels. Whether you’re used to running 10k or just running after your toddler, you can take on this challenge. 10:00 a.m. @ Adanac Ski Hill – 744 Beatrice Crescent

The Tragically Hip – A National Celebration – Live From Kingston (Sudbury Viewing Party) – 6:30 p.m. @ Bell Park
Tragically Hips Last Concert Live Stream – 20 Foot Outdoor Screen – Following the announcement of Gord Downie’s terminal condition and the rollout of a final The Tragically Hip tour, tickets were virtually impossible to get. As such, the CBC has announced that the final Tragically Hip show will be broadcast and streamed live on CBC – so Overtime Sports Bar and Grill and Launchpad Creative are teaming up to screen it on a 20 foot outdoor screen in the parking lot. 7:30 p.m. @ Overtime Sports Bar and Grill – 941 Notre Dame

The Townehouse Golf Tournament – The 13th or something annual Townehouse Golf Tournament is being held on August 21st, with a 10AM shotgun start at Stone Hill golf course. As usual, we’re playing 4 person best ball, with a slider buffet and kickass prizes at the bar afterwards! The price is $240 per team, or $120 per twosome.
