National Learn to Code Day 2016 : Interactive Stories & Game Making with HTML & CSS – Ladies Learning Code is hosting its fourth annual National Learn to Code Day — the first and only event of its kind in Canada. On that day, over 1,500 Canadians will gather together in over 25 communities to challenge themselves to learn a new skill: interactive storytelling and game making using HTML & CSS. This workshop has been designed for absolute beginners. If you know absolutely nothing about coding or computer programming, you’ve come to the right place! Our only expectation is that you know how to open up a web browser and do something online like checking your email. Climb to the top with Laurentian alumni / Gravissez le sommet avec les anciens de la Laurentienne – On Sunday, September 25th come experience Laurentian University’s new Tango Tower. The challenge course is set to begin at 9:00 a.m. followed by a free BBQ lunch served at noon. Don’t miss your opportunity to climb, swing and manoeuvre your way up the tower. Ashtanga Workshop with Bailey – Ashtanga yoga is a moving meditation: the “art” of finding stillness in motion. In this session, you will be introduced to the Primary Series of Ashtanga Yoga. After briefly discussing the history, you will learn proper techniques for pranayama (breathing), use correct use of the bandhas (natural body locks), and drishtis (gaze concentration), and be introducted to the asanas (postures) of the Primary Series. The goal of this workshop is to introduce you to the beauty and grace of Ashtanga Yoga, as well as allow you to feel comfortable and confident to continue a practice either in a class setting or at home.
