Cooking Class: International Hors D’Oeuvres – Every culture has its own favourite style and flavour combination for the traditional small bites served before a meal. Re-shaping Your Poem with Poet Laureate Kim Fahner – (Re)shaping Your Poem: Tips and suggestions for revising your poems to make them stronger with Poet Laureate Kim Fahner. This one-on-one session will include a brief discussion of approaches to revising poems. Consideration of stanzaic structure, line length, and the importance of using concrete sensory imagery will be addressed. Participants should bring at least one piece, and not more than two. Kim will meet briefly with each poet and suggest ways in which to strengthen at least one of their poems. STC BINGO at Boardwalk Sudbury – The Sudbury Theatre Centre is pleased to announce that Boardwalk Gaming Centre Sudbury has given STC an opportunity to become the host of a fundraising bingo night on Tuesday, March 7, from 7:15pm to 10 pm. The STC will be selling tickets to attend at $15 each, which will be redeemable for an all-in bingo package valued at $30 upon attendance the night of the STC fundraiser. What’s Your Type – Canadian Blood Services Celebrity Server – Boston Pizza has partnered with Canadian Blood Services to help ensure lifesaving blood products are available to hospital patients in need. As part of their dedication to the community, Boston Pizza has invited Canadian Blood Services to participate in their Celebrity Server Night on Wednesday, March 8th from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Blood typing will be available to anyone who is 17 years or older. Boston Pizza customers are encouraged to come out and find out what their blood type is and to book an appointment to donate blood at the Sudbury Blood Donor Clinic. THE WORLD BEFORE HER (2012) by NISHA PAHUJA which won numerous festival awards including Best Canadian Feature at HOT DOCS, Best Doc at TRIBECA, also at SAN DIEGO ASIAN FILM FESTIVAL, WARSAW, and in ZURICH. This moving documentary explores the choices of two young Indian women seeking to broaden the bleak horizons for women- one through beauty contests, the other thru militant Hinduism. United Achievement Awards – On Thursday, March 9, individuals, families, local businesses, labour partners and community stakeholders will unite to celebrate everything that we’ve made possible together! Join us at the Sudbury Theatre Centre at 5:00 p.m. for some cocktails and hors d’oeuvres in honour of the “United Achievement Awards.”  United Way Sudbury is honoured to recognize the hard work and successes of all those who strive to make a difference right here at home. Northern Ontario Microbrew Festival 2017 – Sweet justice! This has become a two day event! Pray for us. The 3rd Annual Northern Ontario Microbrew Festival will be held on Friday March 10 & Saturday March 11 hosted by Stack Brewing. Live music and a smaller number of breweries showcasing limited small batch brews not regularly available to most accounts and bars. This day will be for the true Beer Connoisseur. This night also includes a show by Sudbury BurlesqueMUSIC: Murder MurderElliott BROOD is a three piece Juno Award Winning alt-country band. Their songs are loud and quiet but mostly loud. Across five subsequent albums, Elliott Brood have become one of the premier acts in Canadian roots music. Both days will also feature haircuts by Collective Haus all for donations to the Northern Cancer Foundation. Laurentian Relay for Life 2017 – Laurentian University is holding its second annual Relay for Life event March 10th! This involves teams of about ten people participating in a 12 hour non-competitive relay that celebrates survival, pays tribute to the lives of loved ones and is a night of fun and fundraising. Teams will consist of students, faculty, family and friends from within the Laurentian community. Money raised helps the Canadian Cancer Society to continue the fight against cancer by : • Funding research on all types of cancer • Offering credible information on cancer, risk reduction and treatment • Providing support programs for people living with cancer and their families. 7:00 p.m. – March 11 @ 7:00 a.m. @ Laurentian University – 935 Ramsey Lake Road

Northern Ontario Microbrew Festival 2017 Saturday will feature more breweries, Ed Sessions, games, and more beer. Simply Queen In Support of the Canadian Diabetes Association – SIMPLY QUEEN is a world class act. The band is fronted by Freddie Mercury impersonator extraordinaire Rick Rock. Guitarist Bob Wegner was hand-picked by Queen’s Brian May and Roger Taylor to play guitar in the production of the “We Will Rock You” musical. Drummer Greg Hawco is a successful composer, notably for the CBC television series “Republic of Doyle.” Mitch Taylor on bass is a veteran of the southwestern Ontario circuit.
